Senior Process Engineer
Cincinnati, OH

Role Overview at BSI

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will lead and supervise various phases of process design and project execution within the pharmaceutical, food, and beverage industries. Your responsibilities include site visits, developing process diagrams, performing calculations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will also mentor junior engineers and collaborate directly with clients and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supervise site visits, data collection, and audits to support project development.
2. Create and oversee process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and energy balances.
3. Develop process design basis reports, process descriptions, and compliance documentation.
4. Perform equipment sizing, specifications, bid evaluations, and review of shop drawings.
5. Conduct process calculations and simulations using specialized software such as Aspen, PIPE-FLO, and Aspen Plus.
6. Prepare safety studies, relief calculations, and participate in process hazard analyses.
7. Draft process operational procedures and functional descriptions.
8. Manage factory and site acceptance testing processes.
9. Support construction, startup, and commissioning activities.
10. Interface with clients, design teams, and project management to ensure project success.
11. Maintain discipline scope, schedule, and budget, including change order submissions.
12. Mentor less experienced engineers and provide training.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical Engineering)
• 12-20 years of experience, with at least 5 in engineering consultancy
• Strong knowledge of FDA regulations, GMP, and fundamental engineering principles
• Ability to visit project sites, with travel up to 7 days several times a year

Desired Qualifications

• Professional Engineer licensure (preferred)
• Experience with process modeling (Aspen Plus) and hydraulic software (PIPE-FLO)
• Knowledge of ASME BPE standards, process validation, and NFPA standards
