Job summary

Compeer Financial seeks a senior privacy and data governance attorney to lead privacy, technology transactions, and information law initiatives across the enterprise. As Privacy Officer, you will design the legal framework for data protection, AI governance, and vendor risk.

You will draft and negotiate complex technology agreements, advise leadership on regulatory developments, and guide incident response and data breach planning, while partnering with business teams to balance risk with

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admission to practice in at least one U.S. state; Minnesota, Wisconsin or Illinois license or ability to obtain.
• IAPP certification (CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT) or equivalent; preferred.

Responsibilities

• Owns the privacy design and standards for the enterprise, including AI and data governance.
• Provides comprehensive legal counsel on technology and data contracting, information law and cybersecurity.
• Serves as Privacy Officer and leads the privacy program framework and its compliance.
• Guides data breach response, incident notification, and regulatory investigations.
• Drafts and negotiates complex SaaS/AI/cloud/data processing agreements; manages third-party risk.
• Monitors regulatory developments affecting financial institutions and briefs leadership.
