Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks a Sr Principal Software Systems Engineer for the Sentinel Program in Roy, Utah. You will lead end-to-end software and systems engineering across concept to verification, applying solid engineering practices to deliver robust, scalable solutions for mission-critical needs.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, develop high-quality technical reports and briefings, and mentor others while shaping technical strategy and roadmaps for cross-organizational success.

Qualifications

• 8 Years with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree
• Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
• Sentinel Program Access on Day 1
• Strong foundation in software engineering, including experience with software architecture and design, implementation (e.g., in languages such as C/C++, Java, or Python), integration, and test in a complex systems environment.
• Experience with MBSE tools (Cameo, Rhapsody) and requirements tools (DOORS) for traceability.
• Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience developing and presenting high-quality charts and technical briefings to support decisions.
• Current understanding of software engineering best practices.
• Experience in software engineering, system design, software requirements, and test.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end software and systems engineering activities from concept to verification for command-and-control and mission apps.
• Apply software engineering principles to develop robust, scalable solutions for urgent challenges.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand needs and converge on best solutions.
• Develop high-quality written products—technical reports, trade studies, design descriptions, memos.
• Create clear charts and data visualizations for internal reviews and leadership forums.
• Serve as a technical leader and mentor, shaping technical strategy and roadmaps.
