Collins Aerospace seeks a Senior Principal Software Engineer to lead and contribute to the full lifecycle of complex aerospace software projects, with a focus on embedded systems and mission-critical applications.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive architecture and design, and ensure rigorous software process maturity. The role requires a strong background in C++, RTOS, and system engineering, with eligibility for a U.S. government security clearance and citizenship.

Qualifications

• Experience across phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Leadership experience in technical roles like SW Architect or SW Lead.
• Proficiency in C++ software development.
• Experience with RTOS, embedded programming and hardware architecture.
• Knowledge of Linux, VxWorks or similar RTOS.
• Familiar with UML and OOAD methods.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and stakeholders.
• Mentoring experience with junior engineers.
• Active and transferable US government security clearance required.
• US citizenship required for clearance eligibility.
• STEM degree with 10+ years of relevant experience or advanced degree with 7+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate on collaborative, cross-disciplined integrated product teams, often employing agile software development techniques.
• Responsible for the full lifecycle of product development, from architecture and design, through integration, test, and field support.
• Work and learn the highest software engineering process maturity level as recognized by the Software Engineering Institute.
