Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Principal Software Architect to lead development of VLF solutions for mission-critical transmitters. You will collaborate with software, systems, and hardware teams to design, implement, and optimize embedded software on RTOS platforms.

The role requires expertise in C/C++, MBSE, and secure coding practices, with opportunities to guide architecture and mentor engineers within an Agile, classified environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with RTOS development, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Experience with MBSE, system decomposition and interface control across disciplines.
• Experience with software lifecycle processes, configuration control, and change management.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop software for mission-critical embedded platforms.
• Define and evolve software and simulation design across embedded systems.
• Lead cross-functional teams, guiding architecture and performance tradeoffs.
• Mentor engineers on best practices and real-time constraints.
• Define software requirements and UML diagrams in MBSE tools.
• Develop multi-threaded C/C++ software for RTOS environments.
• Support integration and verification within automated test frameworks.
• Advance simulation elements to reflect hardware capabilities.
• Adhere to STIGs and security standards in development.
