Cboe Global Markets in New York seeks a Senior Principal Software Engineer to build and maintain high-performance trading applications in the FX and U.S. Treasuries space.

You will set technical direction, mentor engineers, and lead architecture decisions while acting as a primary escalation point for production issues during on-call periods. You will design distributed, latency-sensitive systems, translate requirements into scalable solutions, and drive technical decisions across teams to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in writing highly performant Java code in a real-time trading environment.
• Experience building and maintaining multithreaded, distributed, real-time trading systems.
• Designing highly distributed, fail-safe systems.

Responsibilities

• Code, test, debug, and document technical assignments.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and high-level approaches.
• Lead architecture and design of complex latency-sensitive trading systems and set technical direction.
• Mentor engineers and raise the bar for code quality, testing, and engineering practice.
• Drive cross-team technical decisions and influence the engineering roadmap.
• Document relevant details in the wiki for a self-sustaining product.
• Evaluate and champion adoption of emerging technologies and AI-powered tools.
