Job summary

Collins Aerospace seeks a Senior Principal Software Engineer to lead architecture and development of core avionics software components, libraries, and tools. You will own DO-178 certification artifacts and drive certification efforts with customers and regulators.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 10+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 7+ years of experience.
• Experience designing software architecture, libraries, or platform components in aerospace or safety-critical environments.
• Hands-on DO-178 development and certification experience (requirements, verification, artifacts).
• Ability to lead technical execution, engage customers, and present to senior stakeholders.
• Familiar with revision control concepts and tools such as Git, Subversion, and JIRA.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design of core software components, libraries, and tooling for avionics systems.
• Drive technical direction and execution for safety-critical software (DO-178).
• Define software requirements, Decomposition, and traceability across complex systems.
• Develop and verify software using modern C++ and OO design principles.
