Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Huntsville is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect and develop core software components for safety-critical avionics, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet civil and military certification standards.

You will work across the full software lifecycle, deliver DO-178 artifacts (DAL-A), and engage with customers and regulators; travel may be needed domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• STEM degree with 5+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years.
• U.S. citizenship required for program access.
• Experience designing software architecture in aerospace or safety-critical settings.
• Ability to lead technical execution including customer engagement.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design core software components, libraries, and tooling.
• Drive technical direction across development and verification (DO-178).
• Develop requirements, decomposition, and traceability across systems.
• Develop and verify software using modern C++ and OO design.
• Create DO-178 certification artifacts, including DAL-A deliverables.
• Support certification activities with customers and regulators.
• Conduct peer reviews to ensure quality and compliance.
• Collaborate across engineering, program leadership, and customers.
