Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. in Rancho Bernardo, CA, seeks a Principal Engineer/Sr. Principal Engineer (Navigation) to support the Vehicle Management System—Navigation team.

The role involves integrating navigation hardware, coordinating testing, and resolving issues across development, production and field operations. The position requires experience with GPS, inertial sensors, RF devices and related tools, plus the ability to collaborate across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in STEM with required years of experience or higher degrees for senior levels.
• Experience with GPS, inertial sensors, RF devices and related interfaces.
• Proven ability to perform system-level design, testing and troubleshooting.
• Proficient with MATLAB and MS Office; familiar with lab/test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Integrate navigation hardware, define interfaces, and ensure redundancy.
• Conduct investigations, system and flight testing in lab environments.
• Provide remote and on-site troubleshooting for production and field issues.
• Support proposal development, verification/validation, and cost/risk analyses.
• Translate customer requirements into total system solutions balancing scope, schedule and cost.
