Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Principal Design Engineer for the Radar Design Department in Marlborough, MA (on-site). You will lead the mechanical development of radar systems, drive technical decisions, and ensure cost, schedule, quality, and performance targets are met across the product lifecycle.

Qualified candidates typically hold a STEM degree with 10+ years in mechanical design for aerospace or defense, experience with phase array structures, and proficiency in CREO Pro/E and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience in the design of mechanical design for military or aerospace or commercial applications.
• Experience with phase array structures, and/or hardware packaging, and/or array integration for military or mechanical or commercial applications in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop sound technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the entire product life cycle.
• Program support and development from early development through transition to production.
• Lead the mechanical development of radar systems and components that achieve the performance requirements at the system-level.
• Provide technical conscience, challenged with making sure the product and process meet appropriate standards and requirements.
• Ensure balance with risk conditions and constraints while advising leadership.
• Visible and accountable for technical decisions.
• Frequent technical contact with the customer and senior personnel inclusive of requirements, significant technical commitments, IRAD, future technical needs, etc.
• Maintain responsibility for meeting cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for the finished product.
