Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Principal Design Engineer for the Radar Design Department in Marlborough, MA (onsite). Lead mechanical design for radar systems, oversee life-cycle development, and ensure performance within cost and schedule constraints.

Requires 10+ years in aerospace/mechanical design; security clearance is expected. Relocation assistance is available; the role is U.S.-based with periodic travel to support collaboration, hardware builds, and testing.

Qualifications

• Requires degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with phase array structures, hardware packaging, and array integration.
• Leadership skills and project management for strategic decisions.
• Advanced degree in STEM desired.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical solutions for complex problems across the product life cycle.
• Lead mechanical development of radar systems and components to meet system-level performance.
• Ensure standards, risk controls, and supplier collaboration are maintained.
• Balance cost, schedule, quality, and performance; communicate with leadership.
• Occasional travel to support collaboration, hardware build and testing.
