Job summary

Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer to support the Sentinel program in Roy, UT. The role may include relocation assistance and requires a DoD Secret clearance with the possibility of upgrading to Top Secret.

The candidate will contribute to advanced missile subsystem design, oversee launcher capsule concepts, and collaborate on trade studies and system architecture. A strong emphasis is on ethics, innovation, and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

8+ years with Bachelors in Science; 6 years with Masters; 4 years with PhD.
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
Minimum 2 years of experience in design, manufacturing, or test engineering.
Experience with DoD weapon system support system concepts and design trade studies.
Experience with ballistic and/or cruise missiles and weapon support system design.

Responsibilities

Provide technical contributions to a missile subsystem team for conceptual and preliminary design and technology maturation.
Develop launcher capsule concepts and oversight for avionics and airframe design.
Contribute to trade studies, architecture development, and system engineering.
Demonstrate ethics, integrity, and ability to innovate in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborate across the division and suppliers to achieve goals.
Conceptualize and mature new business for division growth.
Transition innovative solutions to programs of record for development and fielding.
