Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer (P5) for the ALE AUR Mechanical Design organization in Tucson. You will lead design, development, and documentation of major components, mentor teams, and collaborate with cross‑functional groups to deliver producible, high‑performing solutions for military applications.

The role requires extensive experience with casting, GD&T, and DFMA, plus travel to suppliers.

Qualifications

Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 10+ years of experience, or an advanced degree with 7+ years.
Experience in a technical leadership role across full development lifecycle.
Experience with aluminum casting and machining processes.
Ability to travel domestically up to 75%.

Responsibilities

Lead mechanical design, development, and documentation of major items per system requirements.
Mentor engineering teams to meet schedule, cost, and technical goals.
Collaborate with analysis, materials, quality, and supply chain to refine designs.
Support factories and suppliers in product development and obsolescence management.
