Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc is seeking a Principal Engineer - Layout to lead automated place-and-route from floorplanning through tapeout. You will apply advanced physical design techniques and automation to drive productivity and design quality across projects.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in automated place and route and physical design.
• Strong scripting skills (Tcl preferred) and programming in Python/Perl.
• Experience developing automation for timing, data extraction, QoR monitoring, ECO automation, and PD analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead automated place-and-route activities from floorplanning through GDSII tapeout.
• Develop and improve physical design methodologies and automation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure design signoff and tapeout.
• Identify opportunities for flow optimization and productivity improvements.
