Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. seeks a Principal Engineer – Layout to lead automated place-and-route efforts from floorplanning through GDSII tapeout. You will drive productivity via advanced physical design methods and automation, partnering with multiple engineering teams to ensure robust design signoff and successful tapeouts.

The role requires deep PD expertise, scripting proficiency, and a proactive, independent work style to align with project schedules and milestones.

Qualifications

10+ years of automated place and route and physical design experience.
Strong scripting using Tcl, Perl, Python or shell scripting with automation utilities.
Experience automating timing, data extraction, QoR monitoring and ECO/workflow improvements.
Expertise in floorplanning, CTS, timing closure, signal integrity and design signoff.
Excellent communication and teamwork across engineering groups.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute automated place-and-route from floorplanning to tapeout.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve design flows and productivity.
Develop methodologies for physical design and ensure successful design signoff and tapeout.
