Job summary

Oracle is seeking a senior software engineer to lead the design and operation of core distributed systems and data-plane services at hyperscale. You will drive scalability, durability, and availability while shaping architecture and mentoring engineers.

You will optimize data paths, implement fault-tolerant patterns, and establish observability with SLOs and dashboards. This role requires cloud experience, IaC, and strong problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Strong experience designing and operating highly available distributed systems.
Proficiency in one or more OO or systems languages (Java/C/C++/C#/Go).
Experience with cloud platforms and scalable infrastructure.
Knowledge of system-level test automation and reliability engineering.
Leadership in architectural decisions and mentor to engineers.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of core distributed systems and data-plane services.
Define scalability, elasticity, durability, and availability requirements for components.
Optimize high-throughput data paths for retrieval, storage, and processing.
Design fault-tolerant systems with in-service updates and automatic failover.
Apply tradeoffs for network partitions, load shedding, throttling, and timeouts.
Establish SLOs, telemetry, dashboards, and proactive alerting for critical systems.
Lead performance, load, and resilience testing and incident recovery.
Guide root-cause analysis and mentor engineers in operational excellence.
Build infrastructure as code and automation for safe patching and changes.
Implement security controls and compliance for multi-tenant cloud infra.
