Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Fremont, CA, is seeking a seasoned optical transceiver design engineer to drive development of fiber optic engines from concept to production.

You will design PICs, electronics, packaging, and collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and process engineering to meet customer requirements. We expect strong analog RF and high-speed design skills, hands-on measurement expertise, and experience with board-level design and EDA tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years in optical transceiver electrical design or equivalent.
• Master’s with 5+ years; PhD with 3+ years is acceptable.
• Strong analog circuit design and RF/high-speed signal fundamentals required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop fiber optic transceivers, CPO and NPO Optical Engines from concept to production.
• Develop PIC, electronics IC, substrate, packaging co-design to meet mechanical/thermal goals.
• Execute analysis, modeling, simulation, and measurement of optical/electrical performance.
• Collaborate with firmware, optical, mechanical, and process engineering to meet customer requirements.
• Deep understanding of electrical engineering in RF, power, noise, control, thermal, EMI.
• Create drawings, BOMs and ECOs; coordinate with managers, buyers, and suppliers for parts.
• Resolve DFMs from process/production engineering and suppliers.
• Perform module design reviews (Architectural, EVT, DVT).
