Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Fremont, CA seeks an engineer to perform electrical, optical, thermal and timing measurements of optical transceivers, develop specifications, run RF simulations, troubleshoot issues and coordinate with PMs and suppliers.

You will design boards, create drawings and BOMs, support DFM and design reviews, and collaborate with firmware, optical and mechanical teams to ensure robust product performance.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 2 years of experience.
• MS or PhD is considered an asset and may be preferred for advanced roles.
• Experience in optical transceiver design and RF testing is essential.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to design and develop optical transceiver hardware and electrical systems.
• Work closely with firmware engineers to integrate hardware and firmware components, ensuring optimal performance and compatibility.
• Engage with optical engineers to define optical specifications, select components, and ensure optical performance meets requirements.
• Coordinate with mechanical engineers to develop robust mechanical designs that accommodate optical and electrical components.
• Collaborate with process engineers to establish manufacturing processes for product quality and reliability.
• Conduct thorough testing and validation of optical transceivers, identifying and resolving issues.
• Document and maintain design specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
• Stay updated with advancements in optical transceiver technology and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Provide technical support and guidance to team members, fostering collaboration.
