Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Fremont, California, is seeking a design engineer to drive fiber optic transceiver development from concept to production. You will integrate PICs, electronics ICs, packaging, and thermal design to meet performance targets.

The role requires strong analog/RF design, lab measurement skills and experience with CAD/EDA tools. On‑site work with occasional travel and coordination with firmware, optical and mechanical teams is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong analog circuit design and RF design knowledge.
• Solid grounding in circuit theory and high‑speed signal fundamentals.
• Hands-on lab measurement and BOM/ECO documentation.
• Experience with board‑level design cycles and CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop fiber optic transceivers, CPO and NPO Optical Engines from concept to production.
• Co‑design PICs, electronics ICs, substrate, connectors and packaging for mechanical/thermal performance.
• Analyze, model, simulate and measure optical and electrical performance.
• Collaborate with firmware, optical, mechanical and process engineering to meet customer specs.
• Understand RF, power, noise, control, thermal and EMI for electrical solutions.
• Create drawings, BOMs and ECOs; coordinate with PM, buyers and suppliers.
• Resolve DFMs with process/production engineering and suppliers.
• Perform module design reviews for EVT and DVT phases.
