Job summary

Eli Lilly and Company is building a greenfield GMP manufacturing startup in Goochland County, Virginia. The Sr.

Principal Associate – Environmental will serve as the site’s environmental authority, developing programs, leading permitting, and guiding startup activities. During startup, the role remains fluid, supporting project delivery, building systems and processes, and establishing a strong HSE culture; post-startup, lead environmental programs and regulatory oversight for pharmaceutical

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in chemical manufacturing or GMP-regulated environment.
• Experience applying environmental regulations and interfacing with regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

• Own and lead the environmental readiness plan for the Lilly Richmond facility.
• Partner with project team to shape environmental design decisions and startup plans.
• Develop training and onboarding to build HSE capability at the site.
• Lead collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering to govern changes and ensure safety.
• Coordinate regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with standards.
• Lead internal HSE assessments and incident investigations; drive multi-year improvement plan.
