Job summary

Trellis is hiring a Senior Principal Software Engineer for the Conversational AI team to shape intelligent, scalable experiences powering user conversations. You will guide architecture, set technical direction, and mentor teammates in a fast-growing, fully remote environment across the US and Canada.

You will work with cross-functional partners to translate product goals into robust, tested solutions, ensuring performance and scalability as the platform grows.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of production software development experience.
• 4+ years in a senior engineer role and project leadership.
• Strong experience with backend systems and APIs.
• Experience with cloud platforms and data tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own ideation and execution of high-impact projects shaping user experiences.
• Evolve the Conversational AI Engineering roadmap with leadership.
• Incept projects: identify opportunities, design solutions, and lead implementation.
• Guide integration with external agencies and insurance carriers.
• Evaluate results using ML-based predictions to optimize user paths.
• Collaborate with Data Science to leverage MLMs for retention forecasting.
