Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a Principal Engineer for E&E Engineering to lead design, development and qualification of electrical systems for avionics. Expect involvement in end-to-end design, research, testing and documentation to meet key performance and cost targets.

The role emphasizes collaboration across teams, on-site work in Cedar Rapids, and travel to a Florida facility 2-3 times yearly, with a strong focus on quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years progressive experience as Electrical/Electronics Engineer.
  • 5+ years experience with DO0169 Environmental Qualification.
  • 4+ years experience with Electrical Design.
  • 3+ years experience with PCB Design.
  • 2+ years experience in project management.
  • Non-US Person must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate the design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of electronic apparatus, components, or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices, ensuring work is completed on time and established quality and budgets are achieved.
  • Research, develop, design and test electrical components, equipment, systems and networks to ensure that business objectives and required specifications are met.
  • Prepare engineering sketches of specifications to construct, relocate or install equipment, facilities, products, or systems.
  • Prepare documentation including confidential descriptions or specifications of proprietary hardware or software, information on product development, introduction schedules, product costs and performance weaknesses to track progress and analyze performance.
  • Perform engineering work and applied research, development and design of new products to ensure quality standards and business objectives are met.
