Job summary

Releady, in collaboration with a leading healthcare tech partner, seeks a Principal Application Architect to shape platform direction for payer, provider, pharma, and partner workflows. This senior IC role demands hands-on design influence, architecture governance, and collaboration with senior stakeholders to drive scalable, secure solutions.

The position is a Contract-to-Hire engagement (six-month term) with hybrid work options and onsite requirements in California, including San Diego.

Qualifications

• 10 years of software engineering or architecture experience.
• Experience leading architecture for distributed systems and cloud-native platforms.
• Hands-on ability to guide service design, data modeling, testing, and deployment.
• Deep knowledge of domain-driven design and reusable platform patterns.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders with clear direction and standards.
• Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures in the cloud.
• Strong API/data architecture judgment including REST, OpenAPI, and data boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture direction for major platform capabilities and cross-domain initiatives.
• Lead decisions on service decomposition, APIs, event workflows, and vendor integrations.
• Partner with engineering, product, security, and operations to align architecture with strategy.
• Drive build-vs-buy and modernization decisions to improve speed and reliability.
• Review designs, read code, evaluate PRs, and assist teams on technical decisions.
• Establish architecture standards, review practices, and production readiness.
• Resolve high-impact risks, dependencies, and cross-team design conflicts.
• Create reusable frameworks, reference patterns, and AI-enabled guidance.
• Define patterns for data boundaries, multi-tenant workflows, and integrations.
• Mentor senior engineers and document decisions for enterprise-wide use.
