Job summary

Releady, partnering with a leading healthcare technology company, seeks a Principal Application Architect to drive architecture for payer, provider, pharma workflows, and platform integrations. This senior IC role shapes direction for major capabilities, ensures alignment with strategy, and remains technically credible to engineers.

You will define standards, mentor senior engineers, and lead build-vs-buy decisions while focusing on production readiness, security, and AI-enabled guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 4 years of relevant experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering, application architecture, or platform engineering experience.
• Experience leading architecture for distributed systems, cloud-native platforms, or modernization initiatives.
• Hands-on engineering background guiding service design, API contracts, code structure, data modeling, deployment, and production tradeoffs.
• Deep experience with domain-driven design, service decomposition, and reusable platform patterns.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate strategy into architecture direction and execution standards.
• Experience designing and operating microservices and event-driven systems in cloud environments (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP transferable).
• Strong API and data-architecture judgment (REST, OpenAPI, analytics handoffs, tenant isolation).
• Experience mentoring senior engineers, architects, and technical leads.
• Healthcare/payer/pharma/regulatory/security platform experience strongly preferred.
• Enterprise architecture experience is a plus when paired with hands-on execution.
• Excellent written communication.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture direction for major platform capabilities, reusable services, and cross-domain initiatives.
• Lead architecture decisions for service decomposition, API ecosystems, event-driven workflows, and vendor integrations.
• Partner with senior engineering, product, security, infrastructure, operations, and business stakeholders to align architecture with platform strategy.
• Drive build-vs-buy, integration consolidation, and modernization decisions that improve speed, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Stay hands-on enough to review designs, read code, evaluate pull requests, and guide teams on technical decisions.
• Establish architecture standards and review practices to improve design quality, production readiness, security, observability, and ownership.
• Resolve high-impact risks, cross-team dependencies, and complex platform tradeoffs.
• Create reusable architecture frameworks, decision models, and AI-enabled guidance for engineering consistency.
• Establish patterns for multi-tenant data boundaries, shared services, and marketplace enablement across the platform.
• Mentor engineers to raise quality of architectural judgment and documentation.
