Job summary

Stellarus is seeking a Senior Principal Application Architecture to steer enterprise-scale, cloud-native system design. You will shape reusable services, vendor integrations, and AI-assisted development patterns, while aligning with platform strategy across payer, provider, pharma, and partner workflows.

This is a highly senior IC role with deep code and production tradeoffs, reporting to the Sr. Director, Application Architecture. Hybrid in-office model with two days per week on-site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or HS + 4 years of relevant experience.
• 12+ years of software engineering, application architecture, platform engineering, or related technical experience.
• Experience setting architecture direction for enterprise-scale distributed systems and cloud-native platforms.
• Expert knowledge of microservices, APIs, event-driven design, domain-driven design and platform services.
• Strong hands-on engineering background; discuss code structure, service design, API contracts, data modeling, testing and deployment.
• Experience designing and operating microservices in a cloud environment; Azure preferred, AWS/GCP transferable.
• Proficient in TypeScript, Node.js, APIs, React platforms, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
• Experience with domain-driven design, service decomposition, and tradeoffs between shared vs product-specific services.
• Ability to mentor staff and architects; healthcare/pharma regulated domain experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture direction for enterprise-scale, cloud-native platforms.
• Design reusable microservices and vendor integration patterns.
• Lead integration strategy and marketplace capabilities across product lines.
• Balance build-versus-buy decisions with production tradeoffs and vendor workstreams.
• Communicate architecture decisions clearly to engineering, security, and exec stakeholders.
