Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks a Principal/Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer for its Lake Charles, LA facility to support SMA heavy maintenance, modifications, and structural substantiation. The role covers design/analysis, reliability, and integration of aircraft structures, with potential travel.

Required qualifications include a STEM degree with relevant experience and the ability to obtain a DOD secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Level 3 requires a STEM degree with 5 years related experience, or Master’s with 3 years, or PhD with 1 year.
• Level 4 requires a STEM degree with 8 years related experience, or Master’s with 6 years, or PhD with 4 years.
• Experience with classical static strength hand analysis.
• Experience with substantiation of aircraft structural repairs.
• Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analyses to support MRB/ASIP and fleet management.
• Provide liaison and develop detailed structural analyses for drawings or repairs.
• Offer technical guidance on aircraft structural modification integration and repairs.
• Coordinate work at offsite locations as required.
