Job summary

Seaboard Marine is seeking a Pricing Manager to lead the pricing department, safeguard profit margins, and ensure regulatory compliance. The role requires analyzing rates, coordinating with carriers and inland vendors, and driving competitive quotes to secure cargo while maintaining company margins.

The position emphasizes team leadership, SOP development, and market analysis, with expectations of extended hours as needed. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• Four years of pricing experience in the NVOCC/freight-forwarding industry.
• Three years of supervisory experience.
• Bilingual English and Spanish (read/write) for business.
• Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong time management, organization, and detail orientation.
• Ability to build effective relationships with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
• Analytical, negotiating, and rate-proposal expertise.
• Ability to assess market conditions and produce competitive rates.
• Ability to prepare a variety of reports and manage projects.
• Willingness to work extended hours, holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Document and execute SOPs for pricing.
• Manage pricing team to ensure effective execution of services and SOPs.
• Train the team to meet services and regulatory objectives.
• Maintain training materials and records to support divisional training.
• Lead weekly/biweekly team meetings; record minutes and tasks.
• Define and manage process improvement projects with the team.
• Maintain staff development programs and drive performance.
• Review and enhance processes to maintain standards and productivity.
• Write and maintain division and account SOPs.
• Negotiate with carriers and develop strong partnerships.
• Monitor market rate structures by service lane and competitors.
• Prepare customer advisories in FMC compliance.
• Negotiate rates with inland carriers and manage inland vendors.
• Coordinate with co-loaders for competitive rates.
• Prepare NSA, NRA, MSA, and service agreements; draft proposals.
• Quote rates across port-to-port, intermodal, rail, and more.
• Run market analysis and stay current with FMC Tariff changes.
• Ensure department system reflects research results.
• Prepare bids to secure cargo; participate in rate negotiations.
• Lead heavy contract rate negotiations.
