Job summary

RR Donnelley & Sons in Durham, NC seeks a skilled Plate Room Technician to prepare plates and proofs, manipulate page layouts, and ensure accurate color management for print production. You will work across Mac and PC environments, coordinate with Customer Service and production teams, and perform quality checks on finished plates.

The role requires familiarity with Mac/PC design software, color management, and knowledge of offset printing processes.

Qualifications

• Experience with graphic design/layout software on Mac and PC.
• Familiarity with digital file formats (PDF, TIFF, EPS) across platforms.
• Knowledge of imposition software and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review client files for completeness before plate making.
• Manipulate page layout to fit paper dimensions using desktop publishing tools.
• Determine layout with folds, trims, bleeds, and crop marks.
• Identify missing components and coordinate with customer service and production.
• Load client files for output during manufacturing.
• May prepare color proofs for client review.
• Operate plate making equipment and related tooling for plates.
• Perform quality checks on finished plates prior to manufacturing.
• Train and support new and existing team members.
