Job summary

RRD is seeking a pre-press professional in Des Moines, IA to prepare files for plate making and printing. You will manipulate layouts, ensure correct dimensions, and collaborate with customer service and production to resolve issues. Proficiency with Mac/PC design software and digital formats is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with Mac/PC graphic design and layout software.
• Strong understanding of digital file formats: PDF, TIFF, EPS across OS.
• Color management skills and ability to learn new graphics software.
• Understanding of offset printing and color interactions.
• Mechanical skills to maintain scanners and film processing gear.

Responsibilities

• Review client electronic files for completeness before plate making.
• Use desktop publishing software to fit print jobs to paper dimensions.
• Determine page layout with folds, trims, bleeds, gripper; add crop marks.
• Identify issues and inform Customer Service and production staff.
• Collaborate with teams to resolve job problems as needed.
• Load customer files onto the Pre-Press server for output.
• Create electronic page images for manufacturing proofs.
• Prepare color proofs for customer review when required.
