Job summary

The Fordy Group is seeking a Preconstruction Manager to lead early-stage project planning, estimating, and strategy for commercial construction projects in the Portland metro area.

You will oversee conceptual design to GMP development, working with clients, design teams, and subcontractors to set projects up for successful execution. This role requires strong estimating skills, design-build/CMGC experience, and excellent client communication.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in commercial construction with 3–5 years in preconstruction/estimating
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field (or equivalent)
• Experience with design-build or CM/GC delivery methods
• Excellent client-facing communication and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction from conceptual design through budget development and GMP/bid submission
• Develop and manage detailed estimates, budgets, and value engineering analyses
• Build and maintain subcontractor and vendor relationships; manage bid packages and scope reviews
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and owners to identify risks and refine scope early
• Develop project schedules in coordination with operations and project management teams
• Present budgets, estimates, and strategy to clients and stakeholders
• Support transition from preconstruction to active construction and ensure continuity for project team
• Track market conditions, material pricing, and labor trends across the Pacific Northwest
• Mentor junior estimators and preconstruction coordinators
