Job summary

The AES Corporation in New York seeks a Senior Preconstruction Project Manager to lead preconstruction for utility-scale renewable energy projects from early development through execution readiness.

You will partner across Development, Development Engineering, Estimating, Procurement, Construction, Finance and external EPC contractors to set executable scope, cost, schedule, procurement and risk strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related field.
• Significant experience in renewable energy project development, preconstruction, estimating, engineering, procurement, construction or project management.
• Understanding of utility-scale project lifecycle (feasibility, permitting, interconnection, procurement, EPC contracting, construction).
• Experience supporting EPC solicitations, bid evaluations, and commercial negotiations.
• Knowledge of utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage systems.
• Ability to develop and interpret project schedules, cost estimates, bid comparisons, risk registers, and executive reporting.
• Excellent written, verbal, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Primavera P6, Procore, and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction engagement for assigned projects and align scope, schedule, deliverables, risks, and execution strategy.
• Assess permitting, entitlements, site control, interconnection, design, procurement, and constructability.
• Identify risks and opportunities with cross-functional partners; communicate impacts clearly.
• Provide execution-ready reporting on milestones, priorities, workload, and dependencies.
• Support M&A due diligence and red-flag memoranda for potential projects.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned and best practices.
