Job summary

Imperium Global in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Manager to own complex preconstruction efforts from concept through GMP. You’ll develop budgets, estimates, and cost models, and coordinate with clients, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams to shape project strategy.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in commercial construction estimating and/or preconstruction.
• Strong background managing complex projects across multiple sectors.
• Solid grasp of conceptual estimating, cost modelling, budgeting, and GMP development.
• Experience working directly with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and operations.
• Ability to lead complex pursuits and manage multiple projects through preconstruction lifecycle.
• Excellent communication, organization, and negotiation skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction and estimating efforts from conceptual design through GMP.
• Develop detailed budgets, estimates, and cost models for complex commercial construction projects.
• Provide strategic input on project feasibility, constructability, value engineering, and overall project approach.
• Lead subcontractor outreach, bid solicitation, scope review, leveling, and buyout strategy.
• Partner with clients, architects, consultants, and internal operations teams throughout the preconstruction process.
• Participate in client presentations, interviews, project pursuits, and business development efforts.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on pursuit strategy, project selection, and go/no-go decisions.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization while maintaining project quality and client objectives.
• Support the transition from preconstruction into project execution, ensuring budgets, scopes, and expectations are clearly communicated.
• Mentor and support junior estimating and preconstruction professionals as the team grows.
