Job summary

Redmont Talent Partners is partnering with a well-established commercial construction firm in Birmingham, AL to hire a Construction Project Manager. The role requires leading projects from preconstruction through completion and mentoring junior staff.

You will oversee planning, budgeting, schedules, compliance, and safety while maintaining strong owner/architect/subcontractor relationships. This is a hands-on leadership position rooted in quality and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years as a Commercial Construction Project Manager with legacy in the field.
  • Experience as Assistant Project Manager is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and applicable codes.
  • Proficiency with office tools and PM software.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects from start to finish.
  • Build and maintain relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, and subs.
  • Participate in estimating, budgeting, and preconstruction activities.
  • Review plans, specifications, scopes, and contract requirements.
  • Manage subcontractor buyouts and ensure all project scopes are properly covered.
  • Obtain permits and licenses and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Monitor labor, materials, equipment, and resources and address shortfalls.
  • Oversee personnel and maintain a professional, collaborative work environment.
  • Track project progress, costs, schedules, and reporting.
  • Maintain high safety and quality standards.
  • Mentor Assistant Project Managers, interns, and junior staff.
  • Take ownership of project financial performance and reporting.

Redmont Talent Partners is supporting a well-established commercial construction company in Birmingham, AL with a strong reputation for quality, professionalism, and long-term relationships. The company specializes in commercial and retail construction and operates across multiple markets in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.


We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing commercial construction projects from preconstruction through completion, along with prior experience as an Assistant Project Manager.


What You’ll Do


  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects from start to finish.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.

  • Participate in estimating, budgeting, and preconstruction activities.

  • Review project plans, specifications, scopes, and contract requirements.

  • Manage subcontractor buyouts and ensure all project scopes are properly covered.

  • Obtain required permits and licenses and maintain compliance with applicable regulations and building codes.

  • Develop and maintain project schedules to meet established deadlines and budget objectives.

  • Monitor labor, materials, equipment, and other resources and proactively address potential shortfalls.

  • Oversee project personnel and foster a professional, collaborative, and respectful work environment.

  • Track project progress, costs, schedules, and performance while providing accurate job reporting.

  • Maintain high standards for safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

  • Mentor and support Assistant Project Managers, interns, co-ops, and other developing team members.

  • Take ownership of overall project financial performance, cost control, and reporting.


What You Bring


  • 5+ years of experience as a Commercial Construction Project Manager, along with prior experience as an Assistant Project Manager.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Science, or a related field preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, project management practices, and applicable building codes.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and negotiation skills.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and construction quality standards.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail.

  • Collaborative, accountable mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
