McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking a Preconstruction Manager for our Renewables Preconstruction/Estimating group. The role involves leading estimating activities, coordinating with owners, design teams, and vendors on complex solar projects.

Responsibilities include bid captaincy, budget tracking, scheduling oversight, risk management, and staff development. The position emphasizes strong communication, cost modeling, and delivering value-added preconstruction solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of estimating, design management or field management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of construction principles and practices.
• Experience on large-scale solar projects and alternative delivery methods.
• Experience estimating self-perform labor and material pricing.
• Proven success managing preconstruction for diverse projects.
• Experience with subcontracts and coordination with subs/self-perform work.
• Strong leadership, mentoring and stakeholder management skills.
• Self-starter with high motivation and reliability.
• Clear communication and ability to influence diverse audiences.

Responsabilités

• Lead bid process activities, interviews, and prep as Bid Captain.
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, designers, and vendors.
• Track and manage project budgets.
• Prepare qualifications aligned with contractual obligations.
• Oversee preconstruction scheduling and risk management.
• Coach project staff and ensure safety and EEO/affirmative action.
• Maintain documentation and deliverables for owners.
• Represent McCarthy at design/coordination meetings and propose alternatives.
• Participate in prequalification, RFP/RFQ responses, and buyout logs.
