Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking a Preconstruction Manager for our Renewables Preconstruction/Estimating group. The role emphasizes estimating principles, owner/design-team coordination, and day-to-day ownership of pursuits in complex applications.

The position may support a Preconstruction Director on more complex bids. Strong leadership, risk management, and collaboration with internal/external stakeholders are essential to success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years estimating/design/field management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of construction principles/practices.
• Experience on large-scale solar projects and alternative delivery methods.
• Experience estimating self-perform disciplines, including labor and material pricing.

Responsibilities

• Participate in interviews and interview preparation for negotiated bids, acting as “Bid Captain” on pursuits and leading estimate/bid process team meetings.
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, subcontractors, vendors, internal clients and other key stakeholders.
• Track and manage project budget.
• Prepare qualifications for project that align with contractual obligations and submit documents for legal review.
• Implement and oversee preconstruction and construction schedule.
• Assist in training and development of project staff and manage risk with safety and EEO/Affirmative Action programs.
• Manage and maintain all documentation/deliverables, presenting them to owner in organized manner.
• Represent McCarthy at design and coordination meetings and assist in design decisions.
• Participate in prequalification, RFPs/RFQs, and buyout log management.
