Job summary

AES is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Project Manager to lead preconstruction activities for utility-scale renewable energy projects from development through execution readiness. You will coordinate across Development, Engineering, Estimating, Procurement, Construction, Finance, and EPC contractors to establish scope, cost, schedule and risk strategies.

You will drive investment-quality decisions, align cross-functional teams, and ensure a smooth handoff from development to construction

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline.
• Significant professional experience in renewable energy project development, preconstruction, estimating, engineering, procurement, construction, or project management.
• Understanding of utility-scale project lifecycle including feasibility, permitting, interconnection, EPC contracting, and construction execution.
• Experience supporting EPC solicitations, bid evaluations, commercial negotiations, cost reviews, and risk assessments.
• Proficiency with MS Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Primavera P6, Procore, Quickbase, MS Project, and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction engagement for assigned projects and align scope, schedule, deliverables, risks, and execution strategy.
• Assess maturity across permitting, entitlements, site control, interconnection, design, procurement, logistics, and constructability.
• Identify risks and opportunities; develop mitigation strategies with cross-functional partners and communicate impacts clearly.
• Provide executive-ready project tracking and reporting on milestones, priorities, and dependencies.
• Support EPC contract negotiations and ensure alignment of bid requirements, terms, and execution plans.
• Mentor and share knowledge to strengthen team capabilities and organizational excellence.
