Job summary

PACCAR's Powertrain Test Lab in Mount Vernon, WA is seeking a Powertrain Test Lab Engineer responsible for designing and advancing automation, controls, and testing systems that support powertrain development.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve test quality, increase automation, standardize procedures, and implement new testing technologies across engine test cells. This role offers broad exposure to powertrain test programs and ETL operations.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical), Computer Science, or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years work experience in automation and control systems for engine test lab facilities.
• Proficiency using AVL test cell automation systems and Siemens facility hardware.
• Basic knowledge of diesel engine and exhaust aftertreatment system operation and control systems.
• Ability to work with all ETL staff, fostering teamwork and employee development.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automation and control systems for engine test cells and facility operations.
• Support PACCAR engineering organizations by supplying, improving, and maintaining testing tools used for calibrating, evaluating, and validating hardware and software systems used in test cells.
• Support calibration, evaluation, and validation activities through continuous improvement of testing tools.
• Support facility upgrades and new test cell development initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve test quality, automation, safety, and operational efficiency.
• Research and implement new automation, instrumentation, and testing technologies.
