Job summary

PACCAR Powertrain is seeking a Powertrain Technical Lead Engineer to join the PACCAR Technical Center in Mount Vernon, WA. The role focuses on heavy-duty diesel engine performance and leadership across global teams, with responsibilities spanning testing, data analysis, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years in automotive powertrain, strong leadership, engine knowledge, and travel readiness to support NA production initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field is required.
• At least 8+ years of engineering experience in automotive/powertrain with technical leadership.
• Strong knowledge of internal combustion engines and powertrain systems.
• Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams and resolving complex issues.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams resolving complex issues impacting product development.
• Drive initiatives to improve product quality, engineering efficiency, and development processes.
• Provide guidance on product changes, engine testing methods, data analysis, documentation, and reporting.
• Collaborate with global technology teams to evaluate and implement new technologies for NA production.
• Support software development, verification, release, and implementation for engine platforms.
• Lead vehicle development plans, product requirements, and software prototyping strategies.
• Mentor junior engineers promoting technical excellence and teamwork.
• Support calibration, validation, verification, and release activities for production software and updates.
• Maintain expertise on PACCAR engine software, industry technologies, emissions regulations, and diagnostics.
