Job summary

Rosendin is seeking a Power System Protection Engineer III to design and implement protection schemes for high‑voltage systems serving critical facilities. You will develop relay settings, perform coordination studies, and mentor other engineers on protection analytics.

The role requires a PE license, 6+ years in protection, and fluency with ETAP/SEL tools. Travel up to 50% is possible as projects run nationwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a power systems focus.
• PE license required for practice in the U.S.
• 6+ years of protection and relay settings experience for critical infrastructure.
• Proficiency with ETAP/SKM/CAPE/ASPEN for modeling protection systems.
• Experience developing protection schemes for data centers and mission-critical facilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, specify, set and coordinate protective relaying and relay control schemes.
• Develop protection schemes and relay settings for transformers, lines, feeders, and buses.
• Configure protection relay settings including overcurrent, differential, distance, and backup protections.
• Perform coordination studies to minimize downtime during faults.
• Use power system modeling tools to simulate protection systems and fault scenarios.
• Conduct fault, short-circuit, arc flash, and harmonic studies.
• Support field testing, commissioning, and validation of protection relays.
• Diagnose relay protection issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, and clients to ensure successful implementation.
• Prepare technical documentation: relay settings, test reports, studies, diagrams.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE, IEC, NEC, NFPA 70E, NERC standards.
• Mentor and guide project teams across design and execution phases.
