Job summary

NextEra Energy Resources in the United States is seeking a senior power systems engineer to support engineering activities for data centers, generation and transmission projects within the Engineering and Construction group. You will perform power flow analysis, stability studies, and coordination with ISO's and regulators to ensure interconnection readiness for gas, wind, solar and battery projects.

Strong modeling and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
7+ years of experience in power engineering.

Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise to all aspects of generation interconnection processes and operational requirements.
Work with ISO’s/Utilities/Regulatory agencies to manage interconnection processes.
Perform assessments for compliance with new requirements and standards.
Lead discussions with stakeholders to ensure compliance with new standards.
Create and validate PSSE, PSLF and PSCAD models for solar, wind and battery projects.
Perform steady state, dynamic, short circuit and other power system analyses.
Mentor and supervise junior engineers on modeling and studies.
Monitor interconnection requirements from regional agencies and advise on impacts.
Ensure compliance with regional modeling requirements for new/existing generation.
Contribute new designs or techniques considered major advances.
Prepare communications, presentations and conduct meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
