Job summary

ON.energy is seeking a Senior Power Systems Modeling Engineer to lead power system modeling, validation, and grid performance assessments. You will set modeling standards and guide high-impact simulations to ensure models accurately reflect inverter hardware, controls, firmware, protection, and plant operating modes.

Qualifications

• Masters or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 5–8 years of advanced power systems modeling experience including EMT, RMS, and dynamic modeling.
• Experience with inverter-based resources, BESS, large loads, or transmission-connected facilities.
• Expertise with PSCAD, PSSE, PSLF, MATLAB/Simulink; real-time/HIL simulation preferred.
• Strong understanding of ISO/Utility interconnection requirements, NERC standards, and large-load expectations.

Responsibilities

• Define modeling standards and governance across EMT, RMS, transient, and real-time environments.
• Own model lifecycle; ensure alignment with hardware, firmware, and project configs.
• Provide technical authority on model fidelity, validation, and external submissions.
• Develop EMT and dynamic models for interconnection studies, product qualification, and grid requirements.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate with utilities, ISOs, consultants, and customers.
