Job summary

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Power Systems Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, and EMTP.
• Experience with renewable energy projects (Wind, Solar, BESS).

Responsibilities

• Perform power system studies and utility interconnection analyses.
• Conduct System Impact Studies (SIS), transient stability, short-circuit, and dynamic studies.
• Develop and validate EMT and RMS simulation models.
• Perform PSCAD, PSS/E, PowerFactory, and EMTP studies.
• Support renewable energy integration projects (Wind, Solar, and BESS).
• Evaluate compliance with IEEE 2800, NERC Standards, and FERC requirements.
• Collaborate with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and project stakeholders.
• Prepare engineering reports, technical documentation, and regulatory compliance packages.
• Support grid code compliance, weak-grid analysis, and inverter-based resource (IBR) performance.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Power Systems Engineer to join our engineering team in Houston, TX. This role focuses on grid integration, utility interconnection, power system studies, and renewable energy projects including Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience performing system impact studies, dynamic stability analysis, EMT modeling, and grid code compliance using industry-standard simulation tools.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in Power Systems Engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• PSCAD
• PowerFactory (DIgSILENT)
• EMTP
• Experience with renewable energy projects (Wind, Solar, and BESS).
• Hands-on experience performing:
• Dynamic Stability Analysis
• EMT Modeling
• RMS Modeling
• Grid Compliance Studies
• Knowledge of:
• IEEE 2800
• NERC Standards
• FERC Orders
• Excellent communication, presentation, and technical documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, SPP, or WECC.
• Knowledge of Grid-Forming and Grid-Following Inverters.
• Experience with Weak Grid / Low SCR analysis.
• Experience with Hybrid Renewable Plants (Wind + Solar + BESS).
• Experience working with utilities, renewable energy developers, OEMs, or engineering consulting organizations.
