Job summary

Invenergy LLC, headquartered in Chicago, seeks a Senior Engineer, Interconnections and Grid Analysis to perform technical analysis for interconnection processes across PJM, NYISO, and ISONE. Based in Chicago, you will support wind, solar, and storage projects and advise on transmission planning and regulatory issues.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in transmission planning, strong power-flow expertise, and experience with ISO/RTO interconnection.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems.
• 3+ years of experience in transmission system planning, compliance and operations including complex power flow, short circuit, and stability studies.
• Knowledge of FERC, NERC standards related to transmission and interconnections, including Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT) a plus.
• ISO/RTO or Utility interconnection related experience preferred.
• Experience with regional complex power system studies and planning assessments.
• Experience with power flow software such as PSS/E, GE PSLF, PowerWorld or similar.
• Strong Excel modeling skills; VBA experience a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform power flow analyses and market evaluations for generation and transmission development.
• Provide grid and transmission system planning input and congestion evaluation for PJM, NYISO, and ISONE.
• Review interconnection studies and identify opportunities for new transmission projects.
• Develop conceptual designs of interconnection facilities and wind/solar collection systems.
• Coordinate with regulatory teams on queue reforms and process changes.
• Support asset managers with bidding and risk management strategies for interconnection projects.
• Engage in industry groups dealing with interconnection and market issues.
