Job summary

Apex Systems is seeking a Senior Power Systems Electrical Engineer to lead design and analysis of industrial and utility power distribution projects in Richmond, VA. The role emphasizes arc flash studies, protective coordination, and equipment specification with extensive field support.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of experience, a PE license (or EIT pursuing PE), and proficiency with SKM PowerTools or ETAP, NEC codes, and MCC/VFD knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience required.
• PE license required, or EIT with immediate plan to pursue PE licensure.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, NEC codes, and protective coordination.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical power distribution systems for industrial and utility facilities.
• Perform arc flash, short circuit, and protective device coordination studies.
• Develop drawings, one-lines, wiring schematics, and BOMs.
• Provide owner's engineering, lead technical reviews, and client communications.
• Support installation, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
