Job summary

GenServe is seeking a highly skilled Power Generator Technician to join our field service team. This role requires diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel, natural gas, and propane generators, ATS and control systems.

You will work independently, lead service projects, and mentor junior technicians. You will travel to customer sites, perform complex diagnostics, coordinate with project managers, and ensure safety protocols are followed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; trade school/technical cert preferred.
• 5+ years of generator service/repair experience.
• Knowledge of major generator brands (Cummins, Kohler, Generac, CAT, MTU).
• Proficiency with multiple OEMs (Generac, CAT, Cummins, Kohler, MTU).
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, multimeters, software interfaces, and load banks.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Knowledge of NFPA 110, NFPA 70E and OSHA standards.
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and work in field/outdoor conditions.
• Travel to customer sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on commercial/industrial generator systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues, engine, and control system faults.
• Conduct full system testing including load bank and ATS checks.
• Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
• Lead or support large-scale emergency service responses.
• Maintain accurate service records and reports.
• Provide guidance to Gen Tech 1 and 2 technicians.
• Coordinate with managers, clients, and vendors for project completion.
• Promote GenServe safety practices at all sites.
• Participate in on-call rotation and emergency responses.
