Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Sr. Power Electronics Mechanical Engineer for its Carson, CA facility to drive mechanical development of Inverter Modules from concept to production.

You will design busbars, housings, sealing interfaces and HV/LV harnesses, working with cross-functional teams to address complex packaging challenges. The role requires CATIA/V6, ENOVIA, DFMEA/DV planning, and close collaboration with Manufacturing and Supply Chain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 4 years releasing Power Electronics assemblies.
• Extensive experience interfacing with external suppliers.
• Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with ENOVIA PLM system.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical development of Inverter Modules using CATIA V6/3DEXPERIENCE.
• Design and engineer high/low voltage components and housings, including die casting, sheet metal and injection molding parts.
• Manage the full release cycle of mechanical components using ENOVIA, ensuring data integrity and design maturity.
• Generate and maintain complex top-level BOMs with 100% attribute capture.
• Drive weekly technical reviews with suppliers to close open design items and ensure DFM.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and Supplier Quality to maintain production schedules.
• Write Component Technical Specifications (CTS) and Statements of Work (SOW) for sourcing; assemble manuals.
• Develop DFMEA and DV test plans with Systems team for reliability.
• Provide on-site support for pre-production lines; design specialized fixtures and assembly aids.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to validate and commission production lines.
