Job summary

Rivian seeks a Staff Power Electronics Engineer to design and develop high-power electrical circuits for on-board power electronics, including chargers, DC-DC converters, and inverters. You will simulate, test, and characterize devices (Si, SiC, GaN) while collaborating with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams.

The role requires MS in EE (PhD preferred) and 3+ years in high-power electronics, with experience in EMI/EMC and bidirectional power conversion.

Qualifications

• MS in Electrical Engineering; PhD preferred.
• 3+ years in high-power electronics development.
• Strong understanding of power semiconductor switches & diodes.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-power electrical circuits such as active rectifiers, inverters and DCDC converters.
• Perform topology selection trade studies.
• Design circuits, select components, create schematics and support PCB layout.
• Simulate circuits using Matlab, PLECS, and other tools.
• Characterize power semiconductor devices (Si, SiC, GaN).
• Test prototype circuits in lab; collaborate with embedded control software engineers.
• Coach junior engineers on technical decisions.
