Job summary

Rivian is hiring a Sr. Staff Manufacturing Engineer for Power Electronics at the Carson, CA facility. You will act as the principal technical authority coordinating DREs, Manufacturing Engineering, and external CM partners to ensure supplier capabilities meet ramp plans.

You will vet suppliers for high-power components, lead DFM/DFx reviews, and drive CP/CPK, GR&R, and FAT/SAT activities, with a focus on scalable, manufacturable solutions for next-gen power electronics production lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or related field
• 8+ years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience
• Proven track record vetting external suppliers and CMs
• Hands-on process engineering with precision joining, thermal interface materials, die casting, and injection molding
• Deep experience in manufacturing process verification (equipment capability testing, SPC, GR&R)
• Expert command of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack-up analysis
• Familiarity with failure analysis techniques (X-ray, SEM, CSAM)
• Led structured root-cause analyses (8D, 5-Whys, Fishbone)
• Experience with high-voltage automotive power electronics assemblies
• Strong cross-functional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software (CATIA V5/V6 preferred)

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end technical vetting and approval of suppliers, CMs, and equipment integrators
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to optimize producibility and reduce BOM cost
• Evaluate processes, tooling, and fixtures across core supplier components
• Drive equipment qualification, CP/CPK analyses, and GR&R studies
• Lead pilot-line setups, FAT/SAT activities, and line handover for next-gen lines
• Lead architecture reviews and gate decisions for scalable, manufacturable solutions
• Own ENOVIA mechanical release cycle and BOM integrity across programs
• Conduct weekly supplier reviews to resolve design items and ensure DR timing
• Serve as senior escalation point for supplier quality on critical paths
• Support CTS, SOWs, DFMEAs, and assembly manuals
• Implement data-driven workmanship and process-control improvements
