Job summary

Eaton Corporation in Raleigh, NC seeks a Senior Product Development Engineer - Power Electronics to drive design and development of high power, three-phase UPS systems and energy storage products.

You will work through the entire product lifecycle in a global, cross-functional team, focusing on hardware design and power electronics innovation for mission-critical power solutions. Hybrid work with relocation and sponsorship support are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with minimum 3 years of electrical product development experience or Master’s degree with at least 1 year in power electronics design
• Hands-on experience in electrical design, lab testing and troubleshooting
• Ability to interpret and create electrical drawings, schematics and specifications
• Knowledge of electrical components, electrical safety, and regulatory requirements
• Knowledge of three-phase power systems, power electronics, and power conversion topologies
• Understanding of layout design principles and familiarity with schematic entry and PCB design tools like Altium, Cadence

Responsibilities

• Launch critical power infrastructure products meeting customer requirements and Eaton commitments
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to design and develop new products from 20kW to 2.5MW and energy storage systems
• Specify and qualify electrical components (breakers, fuses, SCRs, contactors, cables)
• Create circuit diagrams, harness designs, BOMs and technical documentation
• Develop power electronics design skills within a technical team
• Work with global product teams to address performance, safety, reliability and component availability
• Support DVT and validation testing in the lab with engineers and technicians
• Assist prototype builds and delivery of products to customers
• Balance Design for Manufacturing with long-term serviceability in layouts
• Participate in reviews of requirements, architecture and detailed designs
• Coordinate with regulatory experts to meet UL and other certification requirements
• Apply standard processes, tools and test methodologies to project work
