Job summary

Magna-Power Electronics in Flemington, NJ is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Control Engineer to join the R&D team, developing controls for multi-kilowatt programmable DC power supplies using MATLAB/Simulink, and translating them into reliable C firmware on TI C2000 MCUs.

You will collaborate with power-electronics, test, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-performance power solutions, with hands-on PCB work and prototyping across hardware and software domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Power Electronics or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 5+ years in Power Electronics Engineering.
• Circuit modeling and auto C code generation; MATLAB/Simulink/Python.
• TI microcontrollers (C2000) experience.
• Hardware design and schematics, RTOS, and communication protocols.
• Python and LabVIEW familiarity; SCPI & test equipment knowledge.
• Strong English, teamwork, and onsite Flemington, NJ.

Responsibilities

• Build and refine closed-loop control models in MATLAB/Simulink and auto-generation of production-ready C code.
• Tune PI/PID/state-space/predictive controllers for high-bandwidth control.
• Write and optimize bare-metal C for TI C2000 and 32-bit MCUs.
• Develop low-level drivers (ADC, PWM, timers, SPI, I2C, UART, RS-485, CAN, Ethernet).
• Implement high-resolution PWM strategies for hard-switched power stages.
• Interface firmware with gate drivers, current/voltage sense, isolation circuitry.
• Design 2- to 4-layer PCBs in Altium for HV layouts.
• Prototype bring-up with oscilloscopes and power analyzers.
• Write Python/LabVIEW scripts for regression tests.
• Create electrical specs, BOMs, test plans; assist UL/IEC/CE docs and patents.
• Lead design reviews; mentor engineers; coordinate with suppliers.
• Support field-failure analysis for volume products.
